Buyer's Agent: Walter Wells, Sutton Group West Coast Realty
BY THOMASINA BARNES
Agent Walter Wells describes this 4,919 square foot house as
"a castle in the forest." The five bedroom house sits on a
cul-de-sac that was, "literally cut into the Pacific Spirit Park
at the extreme west side of Vancouver at the turn of the last
century," he says.
Kevin Place is now home to 90 houses but it was originally
the property of the Jesuit Order of the Roman Catholic Church,
and was planned to be a monastery, says Mr. Wells.
"One block away is the ex-convent (Convent of the Sacred
Heart), turned private boy's school (St George's), a stone
structure that the church built in 1912."
In the 1970's, this neighbourhood was developed into a
modern, residential suburb. More recently, most of the homes
have been replaced or renovated, including this one. Last year,
this house was completely redone with new wiring, a new kitchen,
new bathrooms, African Tigerwood flooring and a two-car garage.
"With the neighbourhood now 40 years old, most of the
original homes have either been replaced by new homes or
extensively renovated and this property, with its classic design
and open floor plan, was the perfect candidate for a total
renovation," says Mr. Wells. The house offers a formal entry,
living and dining room on the main floor at the front of the
house, with an open great room and kitchen at the rear which
lead out to a large deck and yard.
Upstairs there are four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a den.
The basement includes a 27 x 18 foot rec room with a wet bar, a
media room, a wine cellar and an 18 x 15 foot gym.
"What makes this home so desirable is the extra space it
offers," says Mr. Wells. "The 57 by 120 foot lot and almost
5,000 sq ft home provide any family with as much space as
they'll ever need.?
